WORKOUT ROUTINE

This show went up in September of 2019, but we auditioned and were cast at the end of the Spring 2019 semester, and had a team meeting in May to discuss our workout regimen for the summer! This show not only requires soccer skills, but lots of stamina and physical activity as well. In the summer of 2019, every day I would do one of a few specific workouts outlined by our director to help me stay strong and get in shape for the show in the fall. These ranged from yoga, to cardio, to weightlifting at the gym, and most importantly, running, and training for a 5k... Because the first rehearsal we had for the show was all meeting at a trail and running a 5k as a team!

REFLECTION

To this day, The Wolves has been one of the best and most influential projects I have ever had the privilege of being a part of. It broke me out of my type cast and gave me freedom and agency as an actor, which was made possible by the incredible, collaborative environment that director CB Goodman fostered in the rehearsal space. This production showed me the importance of the art of play, and the importance of building an ensemble of people in order to trust each other onstage.

SOCCER

The Wolves is a different kind of production because it requires that the actors know how to do specific soccer skills! Things from dribbling, kicking, passing, juggling, etc. I played soccer for 8 years throughout elementary school and throughout middle school and early high school, and so that foundaiton of skills was so beneficial for auditions and the show itself, and was definitely one of the reasons I was able to keep up during the audition process.

RESEARCH

While the name The Wolves refers to the name of their soccer team, it also has ties to a "wild women archetype" that we did research on over the summer. This required looking into wolves and their packs, and reading material about that archetype, as well as a book from Abby Wambach, a former soccer player on the US Women's Team.
