REFLECTION
Silent Sky was my first mainstage role here and will always be special to me. My character, Williamina Fleming, was based on a real woman astronomer from history. There is already a lot of preparation and research involved when taking on a role, but this got doubled for me, as I did research on the person from history I was actually portraying as well. Our director, Dr. Kathleen Juhl, had us do extremely extensive research and analysis, which, while challenging, set a standard and need in me for that kind of preparation when going into a role. I was the smallest character in the show, and my analysis ended up being 60 pages, and my historical research, 30. Being able to observe Dr. Juhl directing me as an actor, and later serving as her assistant director a season later, set up the path for me to want to direct as well.
